Resumen
Este artículo investiga la relación entre el uso de metáforas y la ideología en el discurso periodístico, examinando las metáforas empleadas en la cobertura del programa Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) en el periódico binacional El Diario. Basándose en un enfoque de doble método que integra el análisis del discurso basado en corpus con el trabajo de campo etnográfico, el estudio explora cómo las metáforas documentadas no solo reflejan las posturas ideológicas del periódico, de la sociedad e intenciones de los reporteros —como suele destacarse en la literatura existente—, sino que también son producto del proceso de producción de noticias en el medio estudiado. El análisis revela que los métodos textuales tradicionales son insuficientes para explicar las dinámicas detrás de la selección y el uso de metáforas. Si bien las nociones de ideología y de intenciones del autor desempeñan un papel en el estudio de las metáforas periodísticas, es necesario complementar el análisis de los patrones metafóricos textuales con un enfoque etnográfico que examine el proceso de producción de noticias por parte de los periodistas, a fin de indagar cómo dichos conceptos se materializan en el contexto estudiado.
