Vol. 6 No. 11 (2025)
Semas

Issue 11 of the journal Semas (January–June 2025) includes works centered on linguistic and sociolinguistic phenomena in the Spanish-speaking world. The issue's first article analyzes the variation of the subjunctive mood in the Spanish of Oaxaca de Juárez, highlighting sociolinguistic factors that influence its maintenance and use. Another of the studies included here examines reference to digital spaces on Twitter through the use of locative adverbs such as aquí, ahí, and allí, revealing discursive dynamics in virtual environments. It also addresses prosody in narratives of personal experiences in Mexico City, focusing on the prosodic strategies used to mark quotations and reported speech. Finally, it includes a study on the articulation of liquid sounds in Sino-Mexican Spanish that analyzes phonological acquisition processes in situations of language contact. This issue of Semas offers relevant contributions to the study of variation, language change, and discursive practices in the Spanish-speaking world.
